The Community Working Group and the Opportunity Center need the support of our whole community to sustain this vital resource! We encourage everyone in the community to make a gift to show your support. You can make your donations on-line, including donations made in installments that are deducted automatically from a bank account or billed to a credit card.

You have choices on how your donation will be used to support the CWG or the Opportunity Center. You can choose to contribute to the endowment (the Opportunity Center Endowment Fund) that will be used to pay for non-staff operating costs of the Center and rent subsidies for residents of the apartments who have extremely low incomes. You can choose to contribute to pay for the general operations of the Community Working Group, the nonprofit responsible for developing and overseeing the Center. In addition, there are choices for supporting the critical services provided by InnVision Shelter Network and the Peninsula HealthCare Connection.

Donations given in another person's name can also be handled on-line. Give a gift to the Opportunity Center in someone's name, and we'll send that person a letter acknowledging your donation. A contribution to the Opportunity Center makes a great alternative holiday, birthday, anniversary, or special occasion gift.

Making the Opportunity Center a reality required the commitment of our whole community. Investments in the Opportunity Center are investments in the health of our community by assisting those most in need. We hope you will choose to continue your support of the Opportunity Center and offer several avenues for your charitable donations.

1. Community Working Group General Support:  To support the on-going operation of the Community Working Group, the nonprofit established to build and oversee the Opportunity Center and other affordable housing projects. Operating expenses include such items as monitoring and evaluating the management of services and housing at the Center, advocating for affordable housing for low-income individuals and families, collaborating with other organizations in development of such housing in the Midpeninsula area, processing donations, maintaining the web site, designing and publishing newsletters, and responding to requests from our donors, our partners, and the community.

2. Opportunity Center Endowment Fund:  Donations to the Opportunity Center Endowment Fund will provide support for the following priorities established by the CWG Board: a) Pay non-staff operating costs for the first floor services center (such as maintenance, utilities, insurance and property taxes) so that nonprofit service providers can be present in the Center without having to pay rent; b) Provide rent subsidies for residents of the Opportunity Center apartments who have extremely low incomes; and c) Seed the initiation of new services or the expansion of existing services at the Opportunity Center.
