The Opportunity Center houses 88 apartments in the four floors above the service centers — 70 efficiencies for singles, and 12 one-bedroom and six two-bedroom apartments for families — ranging in size from 250 to 548 square feet. The facility features self-service laundries and outdoor decks, as well as separate elevators for families and singles. The Opportunity Center also includes an underground parking structure for clients, residents, staff, and volunteers, as well as gathering spaces and a community kitchen.
The Opportunity Center is staffed 24 hours a day, and access to the apartments is limited to occupants and their invited guests. The Housing Authority of the County of Santa Clara is responsible for the management of the apartment units.
Opportunity Center residents generally come from the clientele of the service centers and have extremely low incomes at or below 30 percent of median. Continued residency in the apartments is governed by income guidelines and appropriate tenancy behaviors.
